Thoughtfulness

i've actualli wanted to blog last 3 days but unable to.. wanted to tell how touched i felt after my colleagues told me my auntie's husband came to bring curry puffs for us... its not the curry puff issue... but the thought...

The whole story was... i've been nursing tis auntie for few days... from a grouchy auntie to a cheerful obedient auntie one day... there was an improvement in her progress... i had a hard time coaxing her to eat her meds... speaking in watever language i can... mixing mandarin.. hokkien n malay to her... 'sayang2' my auntie... told her that she must eat her meds if she wans to go back... after swallowing the last bits of meds... she said, 'i dun want!' then..... i said... auntie... u should have told me u can speak english la... i had problems speaking 2 u... she jus smiled at me n said thank u...

at that moment... onli god knows how much my heart melts... n how i love to see her smile... can see her wrinkles... lovely.. i love elderly patients... depends la.. :P its really a test for u when u meet different types of elderly...

Anyway, back to this auntie... i was informed by my student tat my auntie's husband was asking who fed her. sometimes when u hear this kind of question... u can sense some unhappiness or dissatisfaction with the relatives.. so i went to meet the uncle... white hair petite uncle waiting by auntie's bedside... smiling at me.. asking who fed her meds... how was her condition? i told him that she was very cheerful today.. n managed to take her meds after coaxing... I guess he was happy to hear her good progress... suddenly he asked wat shift am i tomoroe.. he wanted to buy me the best curry puff in spore... so sweet of the uncle... kept insisting on buying for me.. i told him its ok... (well, if he wans to give.. i wouldnt reject.. keke) but that was not the issue... its the thought tat counts... when ur patients n relatives said thank u to u... u felt ur hard work was worth it... its been quite some time since i heard a sincere thank u from pple...

anyway, the uncle forgot to buy the curry puffs the nxt day... he saw me in the evening n promised me that he will buy the curry puffs... i told him its ok... he still insisted... very cute uncle la... so loving to his wife.. then he forgot again the nxt day... he said the same thing again... very cute la! he said he's forgetting easily...

i have been having a rough week... dragging myself to work... having low morale... but good enuf to have good colleagues cum frens to confide in...

so till monday if im not wrong... i came to work with a 'black' face... my heart's not wif me at work... irene told me tat uncle came with a bag of old chang kee's curry puffs for us.. he mentioned especially me... the part when i touched my heart most was.. when irene said..."uncle, ur wife's alreadi in amkch...why r u here?" he said he promised me the curry puffs... even until now... when i tot of it.. im still touched by his actions... infact i want to cry when i heard it (thank u, uncle.. u made my day) even though i had a bad day after that... ur thoughtfulness made me think that im still worth to be a nurse... )
